The history of Link Belt began back in 1874 when William Dana Ewart conceived the idea of a square detachable link for a chain belt, six years later, he formed the Link-Belt Machinery Company and the Link-Belt Engineering Company followed in 1888. Today's Link-Belt Construction Equipment Co. is a dynamic, highly-focused organization with headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky that is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Heavy Industries, specialising in the development and production of a range of cranes including rough terrain, all terrain, telescopic crawlers, lattice crawlers and truck cranes.
